The Podium Of Scum.

Catch and release was never an option for these two golden perch.

Catch and release was never an option for these two golden perch.

Tis annoying to think that for all the love of the sport and the fish themselves there are those who will stoop to levels that defy the lowest forms of greed. It is even sadder to know that while they harvest at will, we bicker and tear at the very foundations of catch and release itself. The podium might be better served cleansing our rivers of such scum. Proof in itself of the blatant disregard for our fisheries is the practise of leaving nets behind to continue killing fish and whatever else may become entangled in their nylon web. The two shapes you see in this particular net are those of decaying golden perch.

    The truly sad thing is,
That the ignorant meathunters who use those nets actually brag about the success of their great weekend awayand consider themselves accomplished anglers. It still amazes me the comments you hear from some people, like yeah heading up river for a week – taking two cool rooms, hope we clean up like last yr, or the old oh but the fish were going crazy so just made the most of it and took what I could as I doubt will ever see a feeding frenzy like that ever again.

Cant use the words on a public posting that would accurately describe these types of social neanderthals so lets just hope what goes around comes around one day.

Hate is a strong word, But! I hate seeing this kind of thing in our water way’s, not only cheating for a meal, the lazyness not to remove their death traps when they have finished is the biggest crime of all, sadly it’s not just nets like above, the amount of 4$ shrimp nets left behind over summer by those to tiered to remove them also claim their share of unfortunate victims, as you say Rod, we as C&R fisho’s could be fighing the above instead of each other.

    Cheers.

    yeah i tottaly agree
i was fishing at lake mulwala yesterday and now that the water levels down all the nets and traps are exposed with most of them still having the name tag in tact. so i dobbed em in to fisheries. so sad how i saw about 3 sizable murray cod stuck in the. just helpless. really makes me mad.
